Nursing Programs at LSC

Programs:

Lake Superior College has four nursing education options for student to choose from:
Professional Nursing – 64 credit AS degree
Professional Nursing/Advanced Standing LPN Track – 64 credit AS degree
Practical Nursing – 40 credit diploma
Practical Nursing/PN Military Medic Track – 40 credit diploma

Admission:

All students must follow the general admission process. Nursing students are not admitted directly to the nursing programs at LSC.  It is highly recommended that all prospective nursing students meet with a professional advisor located in Student Services.

Entrance into the nursing programs involves a separate application. Acceptance is compete. Please refer to the Nursing Program Admission Policy and Procedure.

Additional requirements:

Nursing students must meet additional requirements such as background checks, health forms, immunizations and clinical release forms.  For more information on the requirements for nursing students go to the LSC Allied Health and Nursing page.

Accreditation:

All LSC Nursing programs are approved by the Minnesota Board of Nursing and are  accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing, Inc. (ACEN).

Continuing Education:

Graduates of the Practical Nursing program, once licensed, are eligible to apply to the Nursing/ Advanced Standing LPN Track program to further their nursing education.

Search MnSCU articulation agreements

Graduates of the AS Nursing programs, once licensed, are eligible to apply to several RN to BSN programs that are available.

Currently LSC has a partnership and articulation agreement with Bemidji State University’s RN to BSN program. Classes for this program are offered online and at the LSC campus.

LSC also has an articulation agreement with the College of St. Scholastica for its RN to BSN program.

LSC Nursing Club:

The LSC Nursing Club is open to all nursing students and prospective nursing students and has won many awards for campus and community service.
