The Lake Superior College English department has nine full-time members and a varying number of adjuncts teaching developmental writing, college-level composition, and a range of literature courses. Our faculty are committed to student success and helping every individual realize that command of the written word is an essential part of being an educated citizen and a fully-mature thinker. Through traditional lectures, innovative presentations, one-on-one conferences, service learning activities, and dedication to the idea of writing as a dynamic process, the English faculty convey to students that learning to write means learning to think, and four out of five fictional doctors argue that better thinkers enjoy better lives.
In short, the English department’s promise is this: come to us, and we will improve your very existence. Alternately, even if that doesn’t happen, we’ll teach you that beads of blood can, in fact, dot your forehead when your brain is working really hard.
