D2L Brightspace – Minnesota State System contract – Learning management software used to teach online and class supplement.

Kaltura MediaSpace – Minnesota State System contract – allows you to create video content on multiple devices as well as upload your existing videos to the MediaSpace platform.  Machine captioning is available in MediaSpace.  Minnesota State MediaSpace Login

Lodestar –  Previously a Minnesota State System contract – With a few clicks and some content entry, instructors can liven up their eLearning, websites and classrooms with presentations, games, slide shows, quizzes, puzzles, web quests, animations and so much more. These interactions can then be published to a management systems such as D2L.  LodeStar 7 was the version available to Minnesota State employees for free, a license for a more current version can be purchased by your department/division at a Minnesota State System discount.

Microsoft Office is an office suite of desktop applications – Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Please submit a Help Desk Support ticket  for application installation or request training. Free Online Training

Office 365 – Minnesota State System/Lake Superior College contract – Outlook Mail, Word, OneDrive, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Sway, and Teams.

  • Faculty and staff can create their own Teams, please see the Choose a team type to collaborate in Microsoft Teams article for more information on the different types of teams available.  This article also explains what tools and features come with each one.
  • Private Channels in Microsoft Teams can be created for focused space for collaboration within your teams.

Qualtrics – Lake Superior College contract – is a tool for creating surveys and result reports.

Respondus Quiz Generator Software – Previously a Minnesota State System contract (ends 7/31/21) – is a tool for creating and managing exams that can be printed to paper or published directly to D2L learning system. Exams can be created offline using a familiar Windows environment, or moved from one LMS to another. Respondus Help tutorials and Respondus Test Bank Network tutorials. Note: An individual license can be purchased by your department/division if you’d like to continue using this software after the Minnesota State System contract ends.

VidGrid – Lake Superior College contract/Enterprise License – allows you to create video content on multiple devices as well as upload your existing videos to the VidGrid platform.  LSC has purchased professional captioning credits in VidGrid, please see the Requesting Professional Captioning video for more information on how to do this.  Machine captioning is also available for all video and audio clips.  VidGrid Help Center

WordPress  LSC WordPress is web software you can use to create a website and post open content.

Zoom – Minnesota State System contract – Some of the features includes web audio, screen sharing, chat, and a whiteboard area.  Use your StarID@ Minnstate.edu username and password to log into Zoom. If you need assistance, Zoom has 24 x 7 Zoom Video Communications Technical Support. You can also find self-service guides at the Zoom Help Center or watch some of the Zoom Video Tutorials.
